Well I could see the clouds above me,
like a mushroom in the sky,
I said "Father, won't you lay your words upon me",
and he said "Son you ain't gonna die".
Then I could feel the flames around me,
burning deep into my skin,
I said "Father, won't you spare some water for me",
and he said "Son you've got it deep within".
"But I'll be there when it's time,
I'll give you rights on what is mine,
never fear you, for the lord is on your side,
and he takes care of the blind".
Then I could feel the water rising,
from my feet up to my head,
so I said "Father, ain't it time that you were working",
and he said "Son you ain't near dead".
Then I could hear those guns around me,
feel the pain where bullets bore,
so I said "Father, let me end it all in peace",
but he said "Son you've still gotta score".
"And I'll be there when it's time,
I'll give you rights on what is mine,
never fear you, for the lord is on your side,
and he takes care of the blind".
"Yes I'll be there when it's time,
I'll give you rights on what is mine,
never fear you, for the lord is on your side,
and he takes care of the blind".
